The team of Narodni dom Maribor is already knee-deep in the preparations for this year’s festival; the venues and programs are more or less set, the organisational processes are in full swing, and everything is undergoing some changes in order to adapt the festival to the city, and to the financial and other restrictions.
The announced help of the Municipality of Maribor is giving us new hope and motivation for changes in the future, especially motivating are the positive responses of our old and new partners and sponsors, who are aware of the role of culture during economic recovery.
The festival is undergoing some changes which, fortunately, are not caused by the crisis anymore, but by new wishes and visions in the city of Maribor. Most changes are changes regarding the design and placement of the venues.
The main venue will be located on the main city square – the Leon Štukelj square which will be hosting a new program – operas and ballets in cooperation with SNG Maribor, as well as the Folkart festival. Unfortunately we had to abstain from the floating Main stage on the Drava river, but instead we will keep the Jurček stage next to the Water tower which is also the traditional starting point of the Lent promenade.

Big changes are also happening in the Art Camp in the city park due to adaptation to the strict requirements of the Municipality of Maribor, and the wish to revive the abandoned pools by the playground.
Regarding the program, we continue with our wide spectrum of quality performers and projects in the Judgement tower, Music artist’s salon and Večer stage. The street theatre festival Ana Desetnica will be experiencing some extensions, and JazzLent will bring you top musicians and top performances. Vetrinjski dvor mansion will still be hosting the theatre plays for children and stand-up comedy events in the evenings, and the team of Mladina stage is facing a tough decision-making time – more than 180 performers applied for a night on their stage!

The program of Salon of applied arts will be extended due to its great success last year, the association Hiša! will be upgrading the Living city program with ambitious international cooperation, and the artistic collective GT22 will be presenting their work trough innovative street initiatives. Responsible for the musically diverse after-parties at the Minoriti stage will be Gramofonoteka in cooperation with Centralna postaja which will be taking care of the VJ part.
